Interbase Server running or not?

Hi,

InterBase Manager says running (automatic). In Services both the Guardian and the Server is running (automatic).

Still my application can't connect to a database (unavailable database).

If I start IBconsole and double click on Local Service, it says 'The server has not been started. Do you want to start it now?'
If I say yes, my program can connect to the database.

Any ideas?

Thanks ,
Gal

Hi,

It's IB 6.1 and  doesn't show up in the task manager. I can't experiment it with right now because my remote connection doesn't work but will try tomorrow morning.

Sorry,

I checked once more and IBServer and Guardian is running as System while as IBConsole starts it once more a new IBserver and Guardian is running as the user.
So maybe it's Windows related problem not IB related? XP Service Pack 3 and the user is Administrator.

are you sure the XP firewall is not blocking you from talking to the server process, Interbase uses port 3050

the system administrator says he opened port 3050
try using telnet to port 3050 and see if it gets trhough
