The reason you are unable to get oinline or PING your wireless vidcam is becuase everything is on a diff subnet...  The WAP, with a GW or IP of 192.168.1.x, will not communicate with the router and your wireless CCTV w/192.168.0.x will not communicate with the WAP. Stated differently, your wireless camera gateway addr is set for 192.168.0.1, your wireless router is on a 192.168.1.x  subnet and the broadband router LAN is on a 192.168.0.x  subnet.   Your wireless camera is setup to communicate with the broadband router (192.168.0.1) and it is NOT wireless. I would (factory) RESET everything.  Connect the WAP (set IP for 192.168.0.200 (gw 192.168.0.1, channel 11) to the router and set the wireless camera to obtain IP automatically.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have to go to work in a few minutes. I will try this this evening. I'm a little scared of reseting everything as my network is functioning at this point. I have tried to "see" my wireless router by opening firefox a putting in: 192.168.1.245 so that I can change it to 192.168.0.245 but I can't see it no matter which IP address is use. I don't understand why

I can see the camera and my wired Linksys router. If I change the settings during the install of the wireless to reflect the changes you suggest maybe this will work. I will do this before I reset everything.

PenguinMod thank you for your help in getting a response to my question.

It is always good practice to record your specific network settings you change anything.

OK, I can now ping all devices. I changed the Gateway to 192.168.0.1 and the wireless router to 192.168.0.245. I can sign on the camera application, the router application but when I enter 192.168.0245 to sign in on the wireless router application I am asked for a user name and password. I use "admin", "admin" as I have not changed or given a pass word during set up except for the WAP- Personal password. Shouldn't I be able to sign on the wireless router and see all the settings or is this only during set up? My laptop can see the wireless and when I attempt to sign on it will.

The camera worked the first time I set it up while wired to the network still has never worked using the wireless router. Currently the camera will not work now even while wired up. I still have a static IP address as I want to be able to view the camera while I am at work.

The Camera's IP address when I set it up the first time was 192.168.0.115 when I first set it up but changed during a subsequent install to 192.168.0.104. It was working with this IP address while wired do you think I should try re-installing the camera and change the IP address to the old address??

I changed the camera address back to 192.168.0.115. I can ping and get the application to come up but the video still does not work. What should I do now?? I have reinstalled both the wired and wireless router and the camera. Should I reinstall my network? And then reinstall everything else again?

Pess2Esc: Are you still there?? If I am not giving you enough info please comment, and state anything else I need to know. I'm an old school kinda guy. My feeling will not be hurt. I really want to get these cameras working. If I need to get someone to actually come to my house to do it hands on just say so and I can move foward. If you don't have the time or patience I am not offended. The camera was working when I first installed but not via the wireless. Now it doesn't work at all. It would seem that its somewhere in the settings or I need to start from square 1.

Been a little busy this week...  glad to help you out Samuel...

I say "if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it"... If you are making progress, don't reset anything unless you really wish to "start over".

With that being said, if I understand where you are at - all equipment is now on the same subnet so all systems are connect to the LAN & WAN/Internet, yes?

Your issues with the linksys is (I believe) the defaults for Linksys WAP54G is <blank> username and "admin" for the passwd.  That should get you into the WAP & moving fwd again...

Press2Esc,

I understand busy. Yes at the moment everything pings and is on the same subnet. I will try your suggestion on the wireless Linksys when I get home tonight @ 20:00 hrs PST. If your suggestion is correct I am gonna really be mad. I've been trying "admin", "admin" and I did not see anything in the instructions stating this. Also when I re-installed the wireless I used "admin" as the password and got to the settings. It would seem that this would be enough. Anyway I will give it a try as soon as I get home. Thanks again. Also I will post the settings of everything so you can get a look at where things are now.

Thank you for the "username" "password" this worked. I looked at the settings and everything looks OK to me but the camera still doesn't work.  For some reason now I can't ping the camera. I will reset it to the factory settings but right now I have to go to work. I feel like now I will solve this that you have got me into the wireless router.

Excellent Samuel... congrats!

Once your vidcam is config'd, you should be able to "ping 192.168.0.104" (per above addr)...  Not sure if you have a public Static IP, but your should be able to access your camera by either (1) installing the vidcam pgm on the LAN PC(s) or entering "192.168.0.104" in your browser address bar.

Good luck.  P2E

your gateway on the wireless cam is pointing to the Linksys router (192.168.0.1). since it is wireless it should be oing to 192.168.0.245 also, for "test purposes", you may want to disable wpa and run "clear" to see is it your issue is related to a passwd issue... P2E

Sam, nice job on the details provided from your earlier response.   Cuts thru alot of the back-forth Q&A..    And nope to yuour Q.  You do not ping subnet masks. They are really binary "mask" bits, not a physical IP address.    P2E

I changed the gateway on the wireless camera to 192.168.0.245 but I still get no picture and I have also disabled the password for the camera still with no result. Shouldn't I still be able to see video on the camera while it is "wired" as I was able to when I first set it up? I am still home until 09:00 PST. So I will check in case you are able to respond.

What is the cuirrent ip and default gateway of the camera?  is it set for DHCP (auto config) or is it set manually (static)?

The current IP is: 192.168.0.115, The current gateway of the camera is: 192.168.0.245 The camera is set to the IP address: 192.168.0.115 and not DHCP. If it is set to DHCP doesn't this prevent me from putting in an IP address into some other computer and being able to view my home from work or some other location??

DHCP is easiest.  It allows you to "readily" change router connections.  DHCP is more or less "automatically" configures the network card... ok, according to tour IP you are setup to communicate with the Linksys model WAP54G.  Is the WAP connected to the router (BEFSR41)?  As such, you will only be able to see the camera from other wireless systems that are connected to the WAP54G.   Have you considered getting a static IP?  in this case, ANY computer would be able to access the camera via the internet. I will try the DHCP tonight. The WAP is connected to the router (BEFSR41). A static IP would be fine. I have a web site I use for testing called: www.That-Test-Site.com I could use this. Here is what I want to do. I want to use one camera to view the front of my house and a camera to view the back of my house while I am away. The camera at the back of the house will have to be wireless. Can this be accomplished one wired and one wireless?

Per your description.  here is my recommendations...

1) make life easy, get/order a static IP.

2) get cameras working (locally) on your LAN.
- Both cameras will need to be have the same subnet and gateway address. You will need to connect your wireless and ethernet cameras to the same router. You may need to contact Linksys regarding your WAP to allow your wireless cam to "passthru" the WAP to "logically" connect to the ethernet/gateway router.

3) get cameras working via the WAN (internet).
- Was there any software included with your cams that allow both cameras to be view concurrently?

There was software but nothing that leads me to belive that the software will allow both cameras to be viewed concurrently. I am beginning to wonder about the camera itself. I was working last night with Linksys support (India) and was passed to three different people none of which could solve the problem. Then I was asked to pay 29.95 which I aggreed and they still could not fix the problem so I was not charged. I will continue to work with them and you as well. No matter who solves the problem I will give you the points given the time you have invested. I will also post the solution if It comes from Linksys.

Not to worry...  Linksys support is pretty limited, glad you did not waste your $$.  - Per my item 2 above, can you ping either or both cameras from one of youyr PCs?

If you can ping the camera, but you cant see the camera using Linksys viewing software, you need to re-contact linksys - you may have a bad camera.   P2E

You are not going to believe this. I was with Linksys support this morning and the camera was fixed. It has been working all along. It was never malfunctioning. It just does not work in Firefox according to them. I saw nothing in the documentation that stated this and no one in Llinksys support ever brought it up until this morning. As soon as I used the dreaded Explorer browser the camera worked both wired and wirelessly.

I must have first used Explorer when I installed the camera and then changed some settings in Firefox that you noticed and had me change.

You did solve some ping issues and I did learn some IP issues from you so I will give you the points and thank you for the assistance. Have you ever heard this about these cameras? This seems very odd to me that this is so.
