Can't use Remote Desktop when RRAS is installed and on

I noticed that after I installed routing and remote access to my Windows 2003 server, that I could no longer use Remote Desktop to access the server...however, when I turned RRAS off, I was once again able to use Remote Desktop.

Is it not possible to have these two services running at the same time?

It is.

It sounds like you haven't configured RRAS correctly.

Any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong? All I am doing is adding the service from the Service Manager...whenever RRAS is on I cannot remote desktop to the server...if I "stop" the RRAS, then I can remote desktop to the server

You have to configure RRAs after it's installed.

Do you have 2 NICs? If so, you need to tell RRAS what NIC is internal and what is external.

Have a look at the Interface section - that should tell you what it sees and what is active/enabled/connected.

There are two NIC's and both show up in the RRAs menu as "Up" in administrative status however my "Local Area Connection 2" shows up as "non-operational" in the "Operational Status" column.

Maybe I'm not grasping the use of this correctly...I have a Dell PowerEdge 2500 server that I am trying to configure with VMware server (the basic free version). I've configured my PE 2500 with VMware to add four separate virtual servers and have installed Windows 2003 sucessfully to each virtual instance. Now I want to use NAT so that I can access these virtual servers but from what I understand you need to have RRAs installed to do this?
