Issue with ZoneAlarm & Printer driver

After installing a Lexmark X2550 printer, the startup time of my PC went from 40 seconds to almost 3 minutes. So far I found 2 ways to "workaround" this issue, but none of them can qualify as an acceptable solution:
- disabling the Printer Communication Service (lxdd_device process) at startup (lexmark support confirmed me that this service is mandatory for the printer to work)
- disabling the automatic startup of my Zonealarm firewall

Can you help me to fix this properly ?

Souseran,
Just a quick post just to let you know I'm looking at your suggestion with attention, but I need to leave for work now, and won't be able to give you some feedback befor tonight.
I have been able to change the setting in ZoneAlarm and apparently it did not shorten the startup time. However there ar eseveral referneces to printer processes in my zonealam, therefore I want to try this again after a clean uninstall/reinstall of both the printer and ZoneAlarm.
I will let you know

I must really apologize for the long silence, but your suggestion triggered several other ideas, and the more I investigated, the more confusing the problem became. Actually I made *dozens* of various attempts, but if I summarize what I think really counted, then its very simple:

1/ I uninstalled  ZoneAlarm and the lexmark drivers
2/ then re-installed the lexmark drivers: at this stage the slow startup time was already back !!!
3/ then looked at the admin tools >  event log and saw an issue with the WIA service
4/ I then set the service to Manual, and this seemed to fix the issue, even  after scanning a document with my printer (which is also a scanner)
5/ Finally I also re-installed ZoneAlarm

So right now the problem seems to be fixed :-) While your suggestion is not the solution, I will be more than happy to grant you the points, since it was the initial trigger. However I'm still a bit unconfortable about the stability of my new config. For example I do not understand why initially, the ZoneAlarm settings were significantly influencing the startup time.

So if you don't mind, then just leave me a day or two to further test the current config, and if its stable, then I will close this question, OK ?

Thanks
