If you only need this one JFrame to look like that, it might be faster and simpler to have an empty frame (without decorations) and fake the buttons on it. Everything else is just laying out the labels.

You have to set layout to null: component.setLayout(null). This is normally not good, but if you really need it, thats how you can position your elements on fixed positions.

As I said, its better to use layout manager, not fixed positioning. For the layout that you have, using the basic layouts should be enough. Those are BorderLayout, GridLayout , FlowLayout and SpringLayout.
