asked on

Citrix Xenapp 4.5, MS SQL Server 2005 DataStore and sql license.

I will be installing Citrix Xenapp 4.5 using an existing SQL server 2005 server as the Datastore.
The sql server is already running some DB's so I am a bit concerned that I may cause problems by adding Citrix Xenapps datastore. What I am after, is for someone to confirm if my approach sounds ok.
I will create a new DB on the sql server  by a right click 'new DB'and simply point the xenserver to the newly created DB during the installation. My thinking is Citrix will handle the rest. Do I need to be aware of anything else. If i do not create the sql DB i believe that citrix will over right the default DB. Any input would be good. How does the sql license side of things work, is simply one for the server and one for each user?  Thanks

In other word, you can have an organization of 5000 people and they can access the Citrix server but only 25 at a time.

Just to confim this side of the question - I need to manually create a DB called for example (citrixDS) accept all defaults. Then point the citrix install to this new DB and thats it. No need to tweak any config on the SQL server etc..

That is correct. I haven't tweaked my SQL server. Make sure you have a way to back up the Database, whether it is through your backup software or through a SQL dump.
