Issues with Visual Basic 6 SP6 install and VISTA OS

Trying to install VB6 Service Pack 6 on my Vista machine. I get this error:
Setup cannot find the Visual Studio common directory setting on this machine. Any ideas? How can I get this installed?

Also, how does one change their experts-exchange password? The one that the website gave me incredibly has a character that looks like an I (eye)  or a ONE or a lower-case L.

Right click on the SP6 setup file and run as administator
If that doesnt work try setting compatibility to Windows XP SP2 (Right click properties > compatibility) and then run as administrator.

Thanks for your suggestion.( I did change my password.)

I tried exactly what you specified to do, but I still get the same message where it can't find that common directory.

From the Microsoft site:
Refreshing the common directory setting
Under certain circumstances, the installation setting for the Visual Studio
common directory can become damaged, which prevents the Service Pack Setup
from updating files on your system. If the Service Pack Setup cannot find
the common directory setting, it will alert you.

If you see this dialog box, refresh the directory setting by installing or
reinstalling any Visual Studio product
before installing the service pack. If you already have a Visual Studio product
installed, reinstalling the
product provides the quickest resolution.

To reinstall
Open Control Panel.
Choose Add/Remove Programs.
Select the Install/Uninstall tab.
Select Visual Studio 6.0.
Choose Add/Remove.
When Visual Studio Setup starts, select Reinstall to repeat the last installation
and restore missing files
and settings.

Visual Basic Classic

Visual Basic is Microsoft’s event-driven programming language and integrated development environment (IDE) for its Component Object Model (COM) programming model. It is relatively easy to learn and use because of its graphical development features and BASIC heritage. It has been replaced with VB.NET, and is very similar to VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), the programming language for the Microsoft Office product line.
