asked on

Need accurate age calculation based on date of birth.

I am looking to get an accurate calculation that calculates current AGE of an individual. For some reason I have been struggling with problems from a client, it is possible that they have issues with their original DOB field, but can you check my calculation below and make any suggestions to a better method or just let me know if the below is accurate.

DOB is the date of birth field.
Int((Get(CurrentDate) - DOB)/365.25)

I understand what the first two lines are, but what is the -1 for at the end of the third line?

Thanks!

also, could you give me insight as to if the calculation I was using works? I am still considering that their data is at fault, since everything I have tested has worked.
you age triggers on yr birthday, so untill your birthday, your age is the year diff - 1, then it's the same; we say here you are in your say 53rd year before being 53 years old.
as for yr formula, it is late if you're born on the 1st of any month; dividing by 362.25 is ok as an average, but not accurate every year. on top you pick the integer result; you should take 365 days 3 years out of 4, then 366 days every 4 years... etc... too hard...

I can see now this is a better way to do things.
