Infrastructure Networking Question

Hey Guru's,
Got an infrastructure question for you.
1) Brand new 42K sq ft facility just got built and the IT guys set up (2) sets of drops and I'll call them North Wing Drop/South Wing Drop -- Each drops has an estimate of 20 data connections a piece.
2) Just officially took a look at everything today and found out that the distance between the cabling of the North and South or the bridge Drop is approx. 500 ft  (degredation I believe is somewhere around 300ft, right?).
3) The facilty has a T1 Circuit in the North Drop and there's quite a few connections on the South Drop that are an extra 200 ft from the South Drop -- so hence my problem with Networking on the South Drop.
4) What can I do to get networking on both sets (North side is ok - south is the problem)  of drops?
a) Can't I setup another network (different subnet) on the south drop - is everything dependant on my Covad T1 router?

thx in advance

Hey, I think this is the answer I needed -
One more thing; u suggested that I use gigabit Fiber for the backbone between North/South drops (or future switches for long distances) Is there a way I can tell what kind of backbone is there already on the bridge that I mentioned earlier between the two drops? - **I'm a bit of a novice on media, but I can catch on quick** Maybe the earlier cabling guys had this n mind and all I have to do is drop some switches on..
Thx in advance (hope I explained my 2nd question correctly)
