Dell, latitude, 520, 510, DST short status Code 1000-0146

These are work computers a latitude 510, and 520.  The 510 earlier today ran slowly for 7 hrs while on job.  I went to a CPU part store and bought 1 gig Ram and installed.  I started acting funny when you got past the log in screens going to window desktop is a 2 hrs wait.  It will boot though in Safe Mode.  Diagnostic showed DST short status (failed) Error Code 1000-0146.  The backup computer a D520 in the same night went into a reboot cycle right before starting window. After I had in my truck on the moblile desk installing my air card and was fixing to go into the office and pulled my card out before the computer shut down.

I had a hot wire that went to my printer next to my seat in truck that ran to my printer. Insulation was rubbed otf for 3 inches.  I believe that my computers that we're damaged derived by the jolt of ampage when I broke my closed connection from the docking station and removed my computer.  1st computer fan went, 2nd the boot segment or bios messed up and third the boot segements again. The only difference is the second will try to boot and the third just reboots before it gets to the windows meter.
I finally got my restore software for my personal computer I'm trying to get it uploaded and after instlling Hp software now it's acting crazy.

For the 510 the DST short status is a hard drive error indicating a failed hard drive. Have you ran diagnostics on the 520 yet?

Why does this article have a 9.2 excellent rating?

It doesn't really answer the question.
Unix OS
Unix OS

Unix is a multitasking, multi-user computer operating system originally developed in 1969 at Bell Labs. Today, it is a modern OS with many commercial flavors and licensees, including FreeBSD, Hewlett-Packard’s UX, IBM AIX and Apple Mac OS-X. Apart from its command-line interface, most UNIX variations support the standardized X Window System for GUIs, with the exception of the Mac OS, which uses a proprietary system.
