New Hard Drive is not recognised

Hello all

I recently purchased a Samsung 1TB SATA drive (HD103UJ) along with a Serial ATA PCI card (CK-0019A) to add some storage to my Dell 8300.  My plan was to continue using the Samsung 300GB IDE drive for the programs / operating system etc, but to move all media to the new drive.

I installed the card and drive, inserted the disc to install the card drivers, and all seemed fine.
Right clicked "My Computer", selected "Manage" and then "Disk Management".
It appears under my original drive, says its healthy and 931GB in size, but wont format either "quick Format" or "Full".  It just runs for hours, then says, "Windows could not finish formatting your drive".

As a result, Windows Explorer can also see the new E:\ drive, but unlike the original C:\drive, it has no size alongside it.

Appreciate some assistance here, but remember I'm easily confused
Thanks

This card has no good reviews, so I guess that is where the problem lies. The card will be SATA 1 (150) where the drive will be SATA II (300). Place the jumper where specified to set the drive to SATAI. Then it should work.

The site was a bit confusing as it offered multiple downloads which indicated they needed to be run via a bootable CD.
I tried running it from dos-prompt which worked.

Many Thanks
