Best Practice Using ISINTEG and ESEUTIL

I know I can read the best practice in a microsoft knowledge base article which I have done, but I just wanted to ask those who have used ESEUTIL and ISINTEG what to watch out for using them and of course how to avoid issues when using them,  I want to repair an exchange server information store having tried everything else (created new default global list etc.) and want to know what are the best switches to use with them and what do I have to do ( in terms of stopping services etc) before I use them.
