This is simply BAD programming on their part -- i.e. NOT allowing for the option that a newer version of the MS data access components might be on the system. &nbsp;A lot of proprietary software fails to consider such possibilities, hence they become relegated in time to oblivion, unless they fix it.<br />

MS data access components are installed with many MS or other applications that handle ODBC data access -- this can get installed when you install MS office, or MS Access, or a GPS program, or even mapping programs like Google maps. &nbsp;You should look at the &quot;Add remove programs&quot; list in Control Panel to see if the MS data access module is listed separately. &nbsp;If so, do this --<br />
<br />
1. &nbsp;Uninstall the application you are trying to install -- if it didn't install yet, check for &nbsp;the folder name under Program Files, and if there, delete it.<br />
2. uninstall the current version of MS Data Access if you see it. &nbsp;Reboot.<br />
3. &nbsp;Install the application.<br />

If you don't see it, it is hit and miss as to which program installed it. &nbsp;I would start with MS office, it is also possible that IE7 installed it, but I kinda doubt that, unless it was part of a recent service pack update.

I found the program that seems to have installed MDAC 2.5 and have unintalled it and got rid of all trace of it in my filing cabinet. &nbsp;Should I be removing anything from the registry as I am still getting the error message?

I am clearly missing something else here, I have followed all instructions and am STILL getting the error! &nbsp;I should let this go now but it is bugging me LOL.<br />

If after all that work of reg cleaning and so forth, it still doesn't work, the software is seriously defective in its install, and is probably not worth keeping, especially if their tech people won't help you. &nbsp;If you had a second system that is clean of the MDAC software, and installed it there, it would probably install fine.<br />

However, you should NOT have to endure the stupidity of software programmers -- if they can't account for these kinds of issues, and they can't help customers, they DESERVE to go out of business, and they probably will, unless they change their attitude. &nbsp;Good luck.

I am trying to install some software  on my machine and I keep getting this error.  I have corresponded with GSP Support but they can't solve the problem.
