Which patches to download (MS08-040) for my version of SQL?
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms08-040.mspx
For the above Microsoft Security Bulletin MS08-040, I would like to know which patches should I apply to my servers.
1) I have one server with Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition (8.00.760 SP3) 2000.080.0760.00 installed. I couldn't see the patch for this version of SQL Server
2) I have a server and there are both MS SQL Server version 2000.080.0760.00 & version 2000.080.2039.00 installed (I can see both services running). Which patch should I apply?
Thanks.

Looks like you have SP4 installed on one instance and SP3 installed on the other. Bring both instances up to the same SP4 level (it's safe...been out a while) then install the patch for SP4.

Is it a must to update to SP4 first before I can apply the patch?
Does it have any patch for SP3 for this MS08-040? (I couldn't find any)

Well, I'm not sure how the patch might affect two different versions on one system, but to your point, there does not seem to be a patch for SP3 for whatever reason.

Just found out that the SQL 2000 SP3 is not supported by Microsoft any more. The minimum is SP4.
But, how do I "Bring both instances up to the same SP4 level" like what you suggest? Can I choose the instance when I install the Service Pack 4?
