X11 is a notoriously fat and inefficient protocol. My best suggestion is to throw more bandwidth at it, reduce the number of hops between client &amp;&nbsp;server, and more CPU and memory on both ends.<br />

You might also try an alternative such as RealVNC or TightVNC if all you want is desktop control.

Unfortunately, I'm waiting on my sys admin to install freenx, which we'll most likely end up using. &nbsp;Xming showed a significant increase already though.

Actually you can unpack FreeNX and launch it to test before buggering admin while you are at waiting :)
