Backup Exec 12 Exchange 2007 backup error

Hi

The setup is Server 2008, Exchange 2007 and Symantec Backup Exec 12.
The backup appears to be failing on Exchange db with the following error

Backup- \\Server1\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group V-79-57344-33928 - Access Denied. Cannot backup directory &Mailbox Database and its subdirectories.

I have installed the Microsoft Exchange CDO component and there are a few disabled accounts with hiddent addresses, which I believe is the cause of this error. I have looked at Symantecs website and it all mentions added full access and associate external account in AD, however this is for Win2K3, when the options in AD were there and arnt in Server 2008 and Exchange 2007.

Thanks for your help

Hi, Please mention if this use to work before ?

If not, did you check whether you backup application can backup OPEN FILES.
As you are backuping the exhange db files, these files are accessed constantly so your backup application should be able to backup open files...

Let me know if this works...

this is a new install of server 2008, exchange 2007 and backup exec 12. It has not worked since installing. Symantec Backup Exec 12 is Exchange 2007 aware and should be able to backup
Why don't you try to backup a single mailbox to see whether it is compatible with your environment?

That would be a starting point.

Cant backup single mailbox using backup exec 12, only gives the option to backup the whole information store. I have found a work around, which is if I backup the exchagne database in one job to tape and then a second job to append media with the rest of the data it works?!!!!!!
Do you actually have the "Exchange" agents installed on your Exchange server?  Not the normal Veritas agents.
