Visual Studio + Image + Remove border

Why does a border appear around my image when I view it in my browser ?

<asp:HyperLink ID="HyperLink1" runat="server"   BorderStyle="None"   NavigateUrl="~/Default.aspx" ><img src="images/header.gif" alt="Tracking Form"/>

Shouldn't  BorderStyle="None"  remove it ?

Does the border appear in the original image?

The border is not part of the .gif image but a blue border appears in VS around the image and when I open it in IE a grey border is around the header.gif image.  Almost like when you set border = "x"  on a smiple HTML page and you see the border around the image in your browser.
