Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Information. Click on "components" and highlight "problem devices". Any hardware device with a driver problem will be listed here. Make a note of the PNP Device ID line of the entry. It will contain a Vendor number and a Device number (VEN. . . . DEV. . . .)
both four digits long.
Look up those numbers here:

http://www.pcidatabase.com/index.php

This will tell you the manufacturer and the chip number.  First port of call is the manufacturer's website.  If no joy there, try a driver database like Driverguide:

The driver listed there should work, did you install the chipset driver as well? (before installing the modem)
If not try installing the chipset driver again, reboot and then install the modem.
You may have to go into device manager and uninstall the modem first and then do a scan for hardware changes and let it get re-detected

Since this is an MSI motherboard, have you installed the Realtek sound drivers - in addition to the chipset - from the CD that should have come with the mobo? Never mind that you may not have a Realtek audio card. MSI boards seem to require that the Realtek is installed before any sound will work. After you've installed that you'll need to install the UAA driver. Only then will the system be ready for the actual sound driver for the card you have.

Have you verified the manufacturer of the driverless chip via pcidatabase?

Could you explain a little more about why the driver doesnt work?
Do you get an error message during the setup program, and if so, what is it?
Was the driver you downloaded corrupt?
Have you tried downloading from one of the other mirrors?
Did the files extract without error?
Did you run the setup program or did you just try to update the drive from the device manager?  If you havent tried both ways you may want to do that... sometimes driver setup programs will fail if they get hit with the unsigned driver warning or conversely, if you only tried doing update driver, there may be other files that help get the driver installed, so using the setup program may be necessary.
Please let us know if you have tried these steps and what if any error messages you have gotten.

If all that fails you could also try installing an older version of the driver....

Author was able to make use of all but one of the drivers, and did not provide requested further details of why the remaining driver was failing to work for him even though it appears that it should be the correct one.
