It will not appear on the SAN unless either the drivers are loaded or BIOS is enabled, once this is done you should see it on the switch so you can add it to the zone (or create another zone, IBM recommend point-to-point zoning with just 1 HBA and 1 storage box in each) and then discover it on the DS4300.

Have you tried a different port on the switch, might be a problem with the sfp, are you seeing any errors on the port it's plugged into?  I'm not familiar with the IBM switches, reading up it looks like they are scaleable, did you have to apply any licenses to activate the ports?  I'm thinking it could come with an 8port license so the port you have it in might not be enabled.
IBM don't make switches, it is a Brocade 200E.

The switch is a brocade IBM 2005-16b.  I have a steady green connection light between the host and swtich.  I am pretty sure i have the right drivers for the card, i got them from IBM.com.  I am pretty sure the BIOS is enabled, not sure how to check.  I am waiting on the swtich password, i have tried password recovery and connecting to it via the setup cd, serial connection, and through the web interface.

So once i get in, i will have a better idea as to whats going on with the zones

thank you guys for the time.
Try username admin, password password which is the default.

I have that, I have been trying for days.. you guys are the best though very prompt..
I downloaded all the redbooks and so on.. i am trying to locate the brocade reset procedure but havent  found anything yet.
Try root/fivranne
Also see last but 1 post in https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20677168/How-to-reset-Brocade-silkworm-admin-login-and-password.html - Brocade support sent him the reset proceedure and he didn't have a support contract so if you're lucky they'll send it to you as well.

I have gained access to the switch.  I am unsure how to connect the new host.  There is no IP based connection tables, only tabs with the following: switch, network, firmware, SNMP, Lic, Ports, User, Configure, Routing, Extended fabric, AAA service, trace, FICON CUP.   Kinda lost with this.  any detailed help with steps on how to get this connected would be appreciated.

My thoughts are you have to download a configuration file, modify it and then upload it again.

thanks
It sounds like the old version of switch explorer, in the bottom left you should see 4 small icons that look like sash windows, one of these (think it's the rightmost) takes you to zoning. The icons look more like part of Internet Explorer than part of the page, everyone misses them.

Forgive me for asking.. :)  does this swtich have to be disabled in order to make the zoning changes?  right now its not and the only icon i have at the bottom right is switch is enabled...  is it on a perticular tab? or just on th bottom of all pages..

if i have to disable the switch how do i go about doing it?...  you are almost there sir.. please keep helping me :) you are a saving my @#$...

I got into the zoning admin. so now its time to configure an alias for the new device?  if so how do i get the HBA address off the card?  should i wait for down time to do this?  or will it not crash?

Mr. Alder I am up and connected to the SAN thank you for that step by step guidance.  Can you provide guidance as to how i would connect to a partition i created?  i am trying to build a host group in the san manager client but it a lil dry like the other stuff.. again i am new to this stuff i do have an IT background but nothing involves work with fibre or SAN management.. I will award my points to you sir.. thanks for everything.
Install the HBA drivers and it should appear as an uninitiated disk in disk management so just format it and give it a drive letter. Make sure you only see the new partition you creaated on the SAN and not the ones used by your two current hosts. That's controlled by the host presentation on the DS4300.

Storage

Computer data storage, often called storage or memory, is a technology consisting of computer components and recording media used to retain digital data. In addition to local storage devices like CD and DVD readers, hard drives and flash drives, solid state drives can hold enormous amounts of data in a very small device. Cloud services and other new forms of remote storage also add to the capacity of devices and their ability to access more data without building additional data storage into a device.
