asked on

How do I permanently get rid of the LINKS toolbar?

Periodically I turn off the LINKS toolbar and it seems it keeps coming back no matter how many times I turn it off.

- What causes this?
- How to I get rid of it?

Hello brothertruffle880,

1. Internet Explorer updates can cause links toolbar to come back.

2. To get rid of it, you can simply right-click an area of the Internet Explorer toolbar and unselect it from the popup menu.

To remove links toolbar from Favorites menu. (DON'T try and delete this folder as it can cause problems) open your Favorites menu and right-click the Links folder. Choose Properties from the popup menu and check the tick box to make the folder hidden. Press OK and close Internet Explorer. Next time you look in your Favorites menu there should be no Links folder!

Hope this helps!

Are you the administrator of the account?  Are you in a work or hoem environment?

What type of security programs are you using?  One may be locking the toolbar in IE.

I'm using Norton Symantec Internet Security.  I am the administrator and I have this problem with both home and work PC's.  I sincerely think it has nothing to do with my level of access.
