What access to the system do you have? Console monitor,keyboard and mouse, or is it through a serial connection? In either case, halt the system. &nbsp;Insert the Solaris 10 CD. &nbsp;Issue the boot cdrom and you should be on your way.<br />
If you are going through a serial cable connection, choose the terminal type as vt100 or to match the serial console you use.

First you need to find out your if all your application can run on Solaris 10, before upgrading the OS (most of them should work under Solaris 10).<br />
I would perform a fresh installation to give a fesh start, if any thing goes wrong, you know what the starting point is, and make life easier for trouble shooting.<br />
If you still want to perform upgrade installation, you can upgrade to Solaris 9 (or 8) first, then run another upgrade installation to Solaris 10. Since the Solaris 10 or 9 is a lot bigger than Solaris 10 in size, the old partition layout for Solaris 7 may not large enough for you to perform the upgrade installation, you need to check you hard disk layout first.<br />
Anyway, you need to perform a full system backup, before the upgrade, in case you need it.<br />

Make sure you've got the Solaris 10 CD-ROMs instead of the Solaris 10 DVD. &nbsp;It is a common mistake to try to boot an old system (with a CD-ROM player) from a DVD.<br />

Also check you've got enough diskspace for your install and enough RAM to run Solaris 10 adequately.<br />

Keep in mind this is a very old system and performance may be inadequate for many tasks by today's standards.<br />
