Detailed steps to clone z60t hard drive

In detail, please indicate the exact steps to clone this model's hard drive from factory 60GB to new, retail 160GB Hitachi HTS542516K9SA00 (5K250-160). To date, I have tried every trick that I know and the new drive won't image, but just boots to hang. Please indicate every utility necessary, hard drive firmware updates, or cracks that will get the drive to be accepted by Lenovo. Not interested in purchasing an IBM branded drive, just making this selected retail drive work with an image of old drive.

when you say it "hangs" does it start loading the OS or do you get an error from the BIOS?

Hangs = blinking dash after BIOS. No error, no OS load.

first does the bios see the new drive?
If it does then i'd say the image is not being copied to the new drive correctly
