Use the Norton Ghost 12 you have to create ghost boot disc, and boot system with that disc and then map the backup locations.

I ran CHKDSK but there is no problem with the disk. <br />

I have a feeling that the backup did not complete (remember seeing something to that effect after I ran the backup) Is there any way of extracting files from an incomplete backup?

Incomplete backup? it could be corruption and even you could extract the files, it would be very hard to make it works. <br />

Is the Lacie USB drive is 2.5? if so, can you cave the drive into laptop? I hope!

My laptop was stolen this week. I did a backup with Norton Ghost 12.0 2 weeks ago to a Lacie USB External HDD. The stolen machine was a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 running Vista.<br />

There are 14 *.v2i files saved but when I try and open them I get Error ED800012: The internal structure of the image file (last File Frame) is invalid, damaged or unsupported. I have contacted Symantec and they suggested copying the backup to the C: drive but that does also not work.<br />

I there any way I can retrieve any information from this backup as my previous backup was a while ago. That backup works fine BTW but is on another Lacie External drive?<br />

I am now using XP on a Thinkpad T61p.

Unable to restore Norton Ghost

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud).
