Hi,
I've recently bought a new laptop and it has Vista Home Basic on it and I'm wanting to replace it with Vista Business. Everything has installed fine apart from the wireless card which is a Broadcom 802.11 b/g WLAN (as identified by Belarc Advisor prior to re-installation).
I have the original drivers and i have downloaded several variations of the drivers from the HP website but I can't get any of them to work. The original ones go so far through the installation and then present the error "Driver Installation Module Stopped working and was closed"... after then i get another message which is "Error Update.cpp 827 has occurred and setup cannot continue"
On several instances the Broadcom WLAN adapter seems to be installed ok, even with the error messages. The WLAN light on my laptop goes, on the adapter looks fine in device manager and it shows in the network connections screen but the strange thing is it shows as disabled in teh network connections screen but not the device manager. I select enable and it goes throught the montions but it still remains as disabled.
I've tried turning off the User Account Control and opening via "Run as Administrator" but nothing working. I've also tried re-installing manually via device manager but it always says the most appropriate driver is already installe.
Many Thanks
Chris.
After hours of trying to get this up and running I found that a version that installed correctly and since several people have had this problems here is the link to the file I downloaded to get my Broadcom WLAN to work.
