VPN not working over wireless. Different VPN using OpenVPN working fine.

Hello,

I have VPN with Witopia.net I used their installer and it installed an openvpn thingie in my taskbar, i just right click it and press connect and im all set.

I have now subscribed to a second vpn provider, but there I had to set myself up manually through windows. This one does not connect when im connected wirelessly to my router, but works when im plugged in to my router, or when im connected to dialup.
It freezes on "verifying username and password" and then gives an "error 721" saying remote computer did not respond.

Is there anything i should check with my windows configuration? I googled around but couldn't find anything since one vpn connection works but this other one doesen't. My router is SMC2804WBRP-G  and the wireless card in my laptop is - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG

Thank you for any help.

Do you by any chance have your nic that is plugged in to the router assigned a static IP address?
The wireless will likely obtain DHCP, and that can cause NAT issues with vpn passthrough.

Hi,
im not too techy, but i have setup the router to assign my laptop a statc LAN ip everytime i connect with wireless, is that what you meant?
mattbcs

Yes...

Inside the router there is a port forwarding table... do you use this feature?

only have 1 set up to forward a torrent port.
should i disable this then?
mattbcs

The torrent port should be ok.

when you plug in, do you get a dhcp IP address on your hardwired connection?

ASKER
it always gives me the same one, it checks the MAC id i think, and i always get the same lan ip.
