sa password,

The system administrator who installed the SQL has left, and now we can't access teh SQL server, how can I resert/chagne the sa password? and will this affect the current operation of the applications who has databases on that SQL server?

So how can I solve this problem? I need to change the password but I still want the applications to work? how should this problem be addressed?
