File server can ping all nodes on the network by ip and by name but nodes cannot ping the file server either way
File server can ping all nodes on the network by ip and by name but nodes cannot ping the file server either way. We were attempting an accounting software upgrade and since the upgrade on the file server no one can access it.? Why?

ipconfig /registerDNS
This will register the ip address and computer name of your file server in DNS and the other machines should be able to find it. If not then check to ensure the Host A record for your file server is present in DNS, if it is not then manually add it in and try pinging again. If you are still unable to ping your file server then ensure you are allowing ICMP into the portion of the network the file server resides on. If you could give a brief description of your set up it would help as well.
