I had the same problem migrating a legacy .net web app. &nbsp;It appears that VS8 will only compile apps using .net frameworks 2.0 or higher due to the major differences in the framework and CLR versions. &nbsp;In my instance, I migrated the legacy app to .net 2.0 and configured a new app pool in IIS using .net 2.0 for it to run under. &nbsp;Check out these links for migrating to VS8:<br />

Unfortuantely I cannot convert the application to a higher version as my client only has version 1.1 installed on the production environment. &nbsp;With those type of companies it takes ages to get approval for a software change. &nbsp;They will need to investigate and approve the need for the change to version 2.0, then create test environments in their labs, then test the affects of the software change, then discuss the results, then approve teh change, then create roll-out plans and then eventually after months they start rolling out version 2.<br />

By then my project deadline will have been passed.<br />
<br />
I urgently need a solution to use 1.1<br />
<br />
Is installing VS2003 my only option then?

Hi Experts,

I've been told that it's possible to compile an application for any version of the .Net Framework using Visual Studio 2008.

I've installed Visual Studio 2008 and under my advanced compile options, I have options to compile for .Net Framework version 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5.  I need to re-compile an old application that still runs on the Framework version 1.1.  I don't have an installation for VS2003.
