Hi, it won't do the trick. if you want to have your own DNS servers take care of your domain you must change the domain settings with your registrar and have the domain use your DNS servers.<br />

Great, thanks for the info. &nbsp;Would it be &nbsp;possible to just setup an MX record on the web hosting website to point to our Exchange Mail external IP address? &nbsp;I guess the only issue I have is that I am going to use this domain name only for the purpose of email and the domain name will be also used by an outside company for a website. &nbsp;<br />

Otherwise, I can change the DNS servers on their website to reflect my external DNS servers. &nbsp;Then I could setup an MX record in my DNS to the external mail server address?<br />

If the goal is to have your exchange receive the email for the domain, you can ask your hosting company to create an A record that points to the public IP address of your exchange server and then an MX record that points to your exchange server. For example exchange.yourdomain.com could be the A record. Some hosting companies agree to do this, some do not. You can also ask them if they agree to be backup mx for your mail domain. If yes they will create a secondary MX record with a lower priority, so that if ever your exchange server fails, the mails would be accepted on their server. The mails would later be delivered to your exchange server when it's back on line. This would be recommended to avoid mail loss.<br />

Yes, they have to create a reverse or PTR for your public IP, otherwise other servers will refuse mail from your server.<br />

where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is your ip address it should answer with a reverse dns entry.<br />

They are saying to leave it with the MX and A only - that should work. &nbsp;For some reason (maybe thay cant) add a PTR record or something.<br />

Do I need to add in a record to my external domain servers? &nbsp;I do have another domain hosted from our external DNS. &nbsp;Although I do not think this does.<br />
