Outlook 2002 SP3 X/P Comcast POP3 SMTP have to manually send and receive

Hello All,

I have taken the bold step of setting up Outlook 2002 SP3 for XP to be my e-mail interface using the Comcast POP3 SMTP protocols.  When I send e-mail, everything works just fine.  If I want to see incoming mail, I find that I have to click on the Send/Receive button.  Nothing is crashing or doing anything else wrong.

Is this normal? Can I make changes so that e-mail is received without manually using the send/receive button?

Please Advise,

Thank you.

Hello aasikolo,

With Outlook open, go to Tools > Options > Mail Setup.  Check "Send immediately when connected".

Click on the Send/Receive button on Mail Setup General tab. Make sure both options "Include this group in Send/Receive" are checked.  Make sure that your account is included in the Group to receive mail.

Hope this helps!

Sorry it has taken so long to get back.  I tried your suggestions and am still having to manually request a send and receive.   "all Accounts" is selected for the group.

Thank you,

aasikolo, did you restart Outlook after making the setting change?  Did you save the new setting?

An addon may be interfering. Disable all addons and test.

war1,

Restarted - problem still exists.

I didn't opt for any add ons - I don't even know where they are in Outlook, so I guess the answer is, to the best of my knowledge, no add ons.

Thanks,

the only add on was exchange extensions propert pages.  Disabled the add in, restarted Outlook, did not automaticlly receive message (had to use Send/Receive to get messages)

Thanks,
