The shares were set up by right clicking the folder and sharing it. &nbsp;Within the tabs is a security tab too which has the appropriate user info included full control on both. &nbsp;File and Print sharing for Microsoft Networks is enabled as is the server service and Client for Microsoft Networks. &nbsp;Firewall is disabled. &nbsp;<br />

As mentioned before, I can access the shares from the local computer itself via UNC pathing but the other LAN computers cannot<br />

Well it's pretty obvious that you'd be able to access shares on your own machine...<br />
<br />
It simply sounds like a credentials issue. &nbsp;I don't disagree that it's better to <b>not</b> use SFS, but can you turn Simple File Sharing on (because it sounds like it's off) and then tell us if you can access the shares from other computers on the LAN?<br />
<br />
By doing this is simply verifies that it's a problem with authentication/credentials<wbr /> rather than another setting.<br />

Tried that with no luck. &nbsp;The check of local share access was to indicate that the subject computer is indeed serving the shares correctly. &nbsp;The credentials were a concern of mine so I recreated a new user, added him to the administrator group and still no luck. &nbsp;I did read that Novell client credentials and Windows credentials do have to be the same but no luck there either. &nbsp;<br />

Well the Novell Client won't directly kill your shares or anything, so I'm not really going to take that into the equation unless I see something otherwise.<br />
<br />
Next step for you should be to look over this article from Microsoft if you haven't already to make sure you have everything setup correctly. &nbsp;If you feel you do, skip to the section at the bottom for troubleshooting, where they already have your scenario in mind and what to look for to remedy the problem.<br />

I'll also add that the Novell and Windows Client credentials DO NOT have to be the same. &nbsp;Can you provide a link as to where you got that information? &nbsp;If you aren't even using SFS, it makes no difference. &nbsp;I use DLU with random passwords all over my machines with Netware Clients and the passwords don't match, period. &nbsp;And I access shares all the time on the machines. &nbsp;I simply create a static account and authenticate to it whenever I want to. &nbsp;It's really the sole purpose of the account, and it works 100%, every time.<br />

If you are using SFS, I could see where he's coming from - and that client is hella old, but I run plenty of differing client revisions with no issues like you have posted.<br />

Shares are handled via Windows security and not Netware security - I don't care of the client is installed or not.<br />
<br />
If you have a user on the workstation called &quot;suser&quot; with a password or &quot;spassword&quot; and gave him the proper rights to the share (without using SFS) then the Novell Client software won't stop that user from accessing the share because matching credentials make no difference. &nbsp;You're authenticating to the local PC, not a Netware resource.<br />

Keith is simply wrong. &nbsp;If there's some type of setting that I haven't come across in my 10 years of working with Novell Client software...ok, but you don't need synchronized passwords with Netware servers and local PC's in order to access a local Windows XP share, period.<br />

Do both of the PC's have the Novell Client installed installed, or just one of them?<br />

Did you find out anything good with that word document?<br />

And really, why <i>are</i> you using such an old client revision? &nbsp;I doubt the 4.83 client supports SP2 but I haven't looked because it's just soo old. &nbsp;Do you have the option of uninstalling the client temporarily to see if that alleviates your issue?<br />

I'd feel better if you had a newer client to use, but I still have never ran into sharing problems with that revision, though I was always on SP2 - but synchronized passwords are pointless in that guys post.<br />

The document does in fact talk about account credentials, but it's a different story when you are talking about workgroup versus domain membership, as the process varies on how to get from point A to point B.<br />
