Unable to Access server shares remotely via VPN (on a particular host only)

Hi Experts,

Here is the dilemma:

We have a user who gains access to the work network remotely via a VPN. When they connect from home they are able to connect via the VPN successfully however when they attempt to access thier outlook or any share folders on the network they are requested to provide login/password. Upon entering the correct login details (using both USERNAME and DOMAIN\USERNAME) they are simply prompted agian to login. This happens over and over. It seems the server is asking for authentication however never receiving it.

I logged in from a different remote host using his login details and i had no problem indicating that the problem seems to be with his home PC. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this, could it likely be a firewall issue? Any hints greatly appreciated :)

Cheers,

Mike

If the connecting PC is not a member of the domain, try adding the DNS suffix to the VPN/PPP virtual adapter under network connections. Sample:

Problem was:

User was loggin in to thier home PC (part of the company domain) using a local cached password (which had since changed). They would then VPN to the VPN server using thier current password and connect however when they attempted to access file shares it would use the previous stored cached password. This was fixed by login in using a dialup connection and connecting to the domain prior to login.

Thanks for your help.
