Urgent! Sharepoint 2007 authenticaiton issue. Multiple username/password pop ups

I have implimented Moss 2007 in-house, in test environment with a small number of users. Everything is internal with no external access. The users keep getting promted to authenicate no  matter where they go in SharePoint. If they click on any link, documents, calenders, lists etc. they get multiple prompts for username/password. What may be causing this? Thanks for any help.  btw- I'm  a newbie to sharepoint.

Thanks,

In internet Explorer .. go to Tools - Options - Security Tab. Click custom level for teh Zone that the sharepoint server is one. Scroll to the bottom of the screen. Choose Automatic login with current user name and password.

Or Choose "Automatic Logon Only in Intranet Zone". That might be more secure. But you must add your Sharepoint servers to the intranet zone.

it is not working for one of the users. She is using XP and IE 6. She has been deleted and re-added to a different team site and she still gets the pop-up.  seems to be machine specific. Any other ideas?

Thanks
