So I assume that you are using a floppy disc to get the sata drivers right?<br />

Well this isn't exactly a solution to your problem but it is a good alternative.<br />
<a href="http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/" rel="ugc">http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/</a>&nbsp; is a great website with a driverpack that you can integrate on a XP cd, thus eliminating SATA driver problems.<br />
<a href="http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp" rel="ugc">http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp</a><br />
That site will give you the know how to make a custom XP setup cd and then you can integrate a driverpack which will most likely solve your problem.<br />

Nliteos works as well. I prefer doing it the way I mentioned because I had some problems with Nliteos, but that is nothing against them, I am just kinda picky about how things work. And I must admit that Nliteos makes it very easy... Oh and one other reason I couldn't use it is that I mainly work in a corporate environment and they don't allow that. If they did I would probably use parts of it. Anyway Hopefully it works out for you.<br />

Oh and you'll still want to look at <a href="http://www.driverpacks.net" rel="ugc">www.driverpacks.net</a>&nbsp;because having the driverpacks is a great help for any install disc.<br />

When trying to install the SATA controller drivers using F6 for Windows XP w/ SP2, I get the following error when the a: drive starts to read:<br />

I've installed fresh copies of Windows XP before with SATA controllers, and using the F6 method to install the drivers, I've had no problems in the past, either with desktops or laptops. <br />

The computer in question is a Gateway Laptop, model M685-E. <br />
I've tried downloading the drivers from Gateway's web site, as well as Intel's web site, with the exact same results.<br />

I've installed fresh copies of Windows XP before with SATA controllers, and using the F6 method to install the drivers, I've had no problems in the past, either with desktops or laptops. 

The computer in question is a Gateway Laptop, model M685-E. 
I've tried downloading the drivers from Gateway's web site, as well as Intel's web site, with the exact same results.
