Installing SATA drivers with clean install F6 error

When trying to install the SATA controller drivers using F6 for Windows XP w/ SP2, I get the following error when the a: drive starts to read:
"File txtsetup.oem caused an unexpected error (32768) at line 1742 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.

Press any key to continue."

I've installed fresh copies of Windows XP before with SATA controllers, and using the F6 method to install the drivers, I've had no problems in the past, either with desktops or laptops.

The computer in question is a Gateway Laptop, model M685-E.
I've tried downloading the drivers from Gateway's web site, as well as Intel's web site, with the exact same results.
Thanks in advance for the help!
