Most of the time indicators are used with custom fields. &nbsp;You set or calculate a value for the field and then instead of displaying the value, set the field to interpret and display your choice of the built in indicators based on the value. &nbsp;Here is an example of how a Task Schedule Indicator might be constructed.<br />
<br />
Open Project and select the following menu Tools | Customize | Fields.<br />
<br />
Select Task radio button and the Text type.<br />
<br />
Select the Text1 field (or another if it is already used). &nbsp;Rename the field to Schedule Indicator.<br />
<br />
On the bottom section of the form, select the Formula option and insert the following &nbsp;sample formula:<br />
<br />
IIf([Baseline Start]&gt;999999,&quot;No Baseline&quot;,Switch(([Finish]<wbr />-[Baseline<wbr /> Finish])&lt;=0,&quot;On Schedule&quot;,([Finish]-[Basel<wbr />ine Finish])&lt;=5,&quot;1-5d Late&quot;,([Finish]-[Baseline Finish])&gt;5,&quot;&gt;5d Late&quot;))<br />

Now click the graphical indicators button and enter the following:<br />

&nbsp; equals &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On Schedule &nbsp; &nbsp;Green Dot<br />
&nbsp; equals &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;1-5d Late &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Yellow Dot<br />
&nbsp; equals &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&gt;5d Late &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Red Dot<br />

Click Ok and Ok again to close the dialog windows.<br />

No go to your favorite view (the Gantt Chart view for example) and add the Schedule Indicator column to display your indicators.<br />

The indicators work as advertised, except for one task. The task is set to &quot;As Soon As Possible&quot; with a due date of 9/30/08. The start date is dependent on another task and is set to start on 8/22/08. Yet, the indicator show it as Red...any ideas?
