What worked was the memory address 0x5BDE. &nbsp;Interestingly, its the only number I could get to work. &nbsp;What's the explanation? &nbsp;How in the world did anyone ever figure that out? &nbsp;I wonder if it will be universal for any computer. &nbsp;Remember, this was only a problem on &quot;some&quot; computers (all XP)

Hmmm interesting. I'm glad that solved the problem. I think the default SHAREDMEMLOCATION can sometimes be used by other drivers and things on the PC so you have to find a memlocation that is available. Because they are hex based, you should be able to type in any 4 digit hex number.<br />
Anyway, I'm glad it worked, and keep the SHAREDMEMSIZE thing in mind too, I occasionally get a memory error and have to go in and increase it - but this is only in development when I crash the program too many times - a reboot usually solves the problem.<br />

Why would one application fail to load the BDE when another BDE application is running?  But if you stop one and then start the other and then restart the first one, eveything works fine.
