install of rhel 5.1 stops at pci root bridge

intel board useing a dual chip 2ghz
intel board dg33bu

rhel 5.1

the install finds the two chip
starts checking ACPI functionality
gets down to ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [pc10] (0000:00)

at this point install locks.
doesn't appear to be any way to change pci config from the bios.

anyone have a clue what rhel is looking for?
