Why will my Watchguard Edge not connect using PPoE?

I have a Watchguard Edge Firewall/Router that I am installing at a site that has DSL setup using a 2 Wire Modem/Router. I have setup the 2 Wire as a bridge so that the Watchguard can then become the router. I have entered the login name and password for PPoE, but the Watchguard never connects. There is a spot for a domain name, but I don't have anything there. The one thing is that I am in Reynosa, Mexico, but I am not sure if that would be an issue. The line is by Tel Mex, but the info in the 2 Wire has SBC info in it. I have all the cables to the correct ports. Any suggestions?

Be sure you have a complete login name with the ISP domain following it, if you don't already.

In my PPPoE setup, I put in my login and forgot to add the "@bellsouth.net" to my login name to make it work properly.

Yeah. I don't have that in my Watchguard because it is not in the current 2 Wire modem/router, but it may not need it there, but need it in the Watchguard. I also had trouble with putting the 2 Wire in bridge mode somewhat I think. It says to just uncheck the flag for Routing mode and that's it. That seems pretty easy, but I bet the domain name at the end of the user name needs to be set. I'll try that ASAP and let you know.

I actually removed the 2Wire modem/router with a Speedstream DSL modem that I set as a bridge and it worked just fine. I believe the firmware on the 2Wire was out of date and I found a quicker solution. Thanks for your input.

Software Firewalls

Software firewalls, also known as host-based firewalls, provide a layer of software on one host that controls network traffic in and out of that single machine. Most operating systems now include firewall software, but many available software firewalls include central distribution, antivirus systems and disaster recovery.
