Software to check if files are used on site

I am very new to web developement.  We (husband and myself) have agreed to take over the Church web site and do what we can with it.  The person who was doing it has lots of files out there that are not used.  Is there any software that can look at the different site pages and tell what files are not being used?

Thanks, Pat

Hi PatKung,

Yes, there are lot of programs out there that can detect orphaned files.  What will you be using to maintain the site and what server OS is being used?
You can find the broken links of the web site.
use this service to identify the not used files,
http://validator.w3.org/checklink

it is also very difficult to identify by the software. You will have to understand all the files references and linking etc.,

other wise it is not real meaning to identify the un wanted files

Checking links is NOT what I want to do.  Looks like what I want to do is probably not possible.  I wanted to check the files I have out on the server that hosts my site and see what files are not referenced from my web pages.

If this is not possible I will withdraw the question.  Let me know if someone has a way to do this.

Thanks, Pat

Do you know if Joomla does it?
Probably not, but it's been a little while since I messed with Joomla.  I imagine someone would have written a plugin to deal with this by now.
