Couple of suggestions.<br />
1. Do you have a Group Policy that might be stopping you from setting the default printer?<br />
2. Do you have Administrative permissions on that pc? If not already logged in as administrator, then try to login and see if you are able to do it in that logon. Better yet to make sure you dont add more variables, add the user to the local admin group and see if he can set the default printer then. <br />
3. If the profile is corrupt then you should be able to login as some other user and be able to set the default printer. And if that is the case, then recreating the local profile will be the way to solve this.<br />

I just rebuilt his profile. &nbsp;I renamed the his profile . &nbsp;Logged in as the user let windows re creight the folders copied over his Desktop documents and icons copied over My Documents. &nbsp;Then checked the printer sttings and the printer was set as the default printer. &nbsp;Thanks for your help. &nbsp;

I have a windows 2000 computer I am trying to a default printer I right click on the printer select set ad default printer but it never takes the setting. &nbsp;I tried deleting the printer add it back but at the end adding I get a message saying unable to set default printer. &nbsp;<br />
