Disable the "application key" in Windows XP

Please tell me step by step how I can disable the "application key" which is the key between the right
Windows key and the right Ctrl key.

A senior citizen that I teach apparently hits this key when she really wants the shift key.  She doesn't really need this key as it is never used.

I did search for help and one site suggested downloading Sharpkeys, at http://www.randyrants.com/sharpkeys/ or http://www.autohotkey.com but neither of them make any sense to me.  I'm afraid I am not that technical and don't understand either program.

Please tell me step by step how I can disable the Application Key for her.

Thank you.
