Multiple Languages in Citrix PS4 Farm

We currently have a small (7 server) Citrix PS4 farm. My company is planning to open an office in China and is considering installing a Citrix Server in the office.

My question: Can we install a Chinese language server in the existing server farm? I read on the Citrix Support site (though I cannot find the artixcle now), that stated "all servers in the farm must have the same regional settings."

Has anyone installed servers running different languages in the same farm, in particularly Chinese or Japanese?

Thansk,
Bob

Hi Bob.  At one time I looked into this somewhat as I had a couple of users in Mexico.  The interface wasn't too difficult but you had to make separate groups in AD, and get Word, Excel, and other programs you use to have the language packs, etc., and it ended up being too much for the 1-2 users we were going to implement this with.  After tinkering with it I decided if I would have had to fully implement this for many users it would be better to set up a separate farm with apps published in the other language, and most likely their own web site.

Here are a couple of links discussing some of this:  http://alsolorzano.com/blogs/tips__tricks/archive/2008/04/11/multi-lingual-support-for-citrix-xenapp-presentation-servers.aspx and http://www.thomaskoetzing.de/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=115&Itemid=85

Hi Croberds,

Thanks for the input. We're looking at about 30 users. Separate AD groups would not be a problem, we are already planning that for restricting access to the internet and file servers.

I was hoping to get information relating to multi-byte/unicode requirements and compatibility issues and problems (if any).

Thanks again for your response. I'll wait a while to see if more information comes in.
