Look for Borders dropdown, expand it and set your borders there ...you will have options for all sides, colors and None there ....<br />

The Group is a Row, so select the row in question and set the border for the row. In the properties you need to set the &quot;Border Style&quot; to &quot;Solid&quot;, Set the &quot;Border Width&quot; accordingly, &quot;1pt&quot; is the default. Then set the &quot;Border Colour&quot;, it's &quot;Black&quot; by default.<br />

But what you are actually doing here is the Border settings for each cell in the row, just all at the same time so what actually happens is you get a full border for every cell in the row. You now need to select all the cells in the row from the second cell in to the last cell using the method tshel suggested, i.e. Shift and Click, then expand the &quot;Border Style&quot; property where you will see that it has 4 instances; Top, Bottom, Right and Left. Change the Left to None. <br />
Now you need to do the same for the Right border for all the cells except the last one. But because the first cell now has different settings to the others you won't be able to set it when you shift click, you'll have to set that one individually.<br />

I know what you mean. I do that for the rows, but when I group them by something like NAME, and HIDE DUPLICATES, there's border on the empty cells too. I want to have a border around the group only, not the rows within the group. Know what I mean?

Tshel: The reason I choose the answer from chrismc is because your solution wasn't what I was looking for, your explanation works perfectly with a table on a report, what I was looking for was the GROUPING border within the table, not the rows on a table, chrismc gave me the answer when he told me to use the group header and footer for that purpose. Sorry.

Yes when you add a group to the table the table is then grouped so that was the solution. Hence bording around table you are bordering around the group as well... No biggie. My question was a general question to moderators as to why this happens quite frequently to me and this question was one to point out to them. I wanted to understand how the assinment works and whether this is a result of asker assignment or an auto application thing ...<br />
