No, this appears to be a different issue, all of my devices in device manager are recognised, I don't receive any error messages and the problem only exists if I have shutdown/rebooted on mute.

Reinstalling the drivers was the first thing I tried, how do I tell which services are audio services?

I noticed that on my new MacBook, if I shut down Windows XP (running on Boot Camp) with the sound muted, then when I startup again, the audio is not working even after I uncheck mute. The audio will stay silent until I reboot unmuted. I am using Windows XP Pro SP3, Boot Camp drivers found on the Mac OS X Install Disc, and have installed Boot Camp Update 2.1 for Windows XP.<br />

A colleague of mine who has exactly the same model of MacBook has noticed the same issue. Is this a common issue, and is there a fix for it?

XP (Boot Camp) audio not working if muted on shutdown

All of Apple's hardware is produced solely by Apple Inc., who determines internal systems, designs, and prices. Apple buys certain components wholesale from third-party manufacturers. The current Mac product family uses Intel x86-64 processors. All Mac models ship with at least 1 GB RAM as standard.
