Looking for Installation tracking/monitoring software

I'm looking for software that tracks the installation of software on my PC. Something like Restore Points in Windows but with reporting on what occurred when new software was installed. I would like to set a point when to monitor for new installation, install new software, and then stop monitoring. Then review the report of what changes have occurred on my PC.

I have a Windows based PC running Vista.

Thanx for all the info.

I reviewed ZENWorks and even though it looks to support what Im looking for it is a bit overkill for what I need.

I also searched for InCtrl and found version 5 at PCMag.com. The software does not mention that it supports Win XP or Win Vista. I could not find a version 6 and version 5 is last dated in 2000. It seems that this software is no longer maintained.

I did, however, find some software that I can use with a little snooping around.
  • Total Uninstall supports Win Vista and looks to be exactly what Im looking for with pre and post install snapshots and reporting.
  • pcBaseline looks good and is free however only supports Win XP so far.
  • What Changed is another freeware software that is a very basic solution. There is no specific mentioning of Win Vista support.
So I'm going with Total Uninstall.

You may have problems with it conflicting with Vista's own registry monitoring, but good luck with it.
