Is that going to change the way DFS shared folders replicate or how the whole FRS does it? I wouldn't like to change how DCs replicate SYSVOL info.<br />

Also, can I change the HKEY values (ports) on only two servers, rhather than the whole domain? The two servers are not DCs. They are only servers holding DFS root targets, which I want to replicate.

It will change the port used for FRS and will by that also affect sysvol if changing the port on DCs. For DCs, you can also change the port used for NTDS-replication and netlogon as described in <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/224196" rel="ugc">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/224196</a><br />

Does the DFS-root servers replicate FRS with other servers? If yes, you also nead to change the other servers.

Let me get this straight. Replication ports only change on the servers that I manually change the register key on. Therefore, if I only want to replicate data from a non-dc server to another non-dc box, the DCs will still replicate SysVOL and all that on the default ports. <br />

Is that right??<br />

Basically, I don't want to touch the system info replication ports, but only the ports used to replicate data folders (e.i. docs, jpegs) on non-dc servers.

I'm running DFS on server 2003 std R1. Ii need to limit the default replication ports (3003-3867) to something I define. I don't have dfsrdiag.exe as I'm not using R2. Can that be done on R1?<br />

DFS R1 port replication change

Windows Server 2003 was based on Windows XP and was released in four editions: Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter. It also had derivative versions for clusters, storage and Microsoft’s Small Business Server.
