For traffic to the servers and not the load balanced VIP, you simply need to put routing in place to make this happen. &nbsp;The CSS will simply act as a router for non VIP traffic if the appropriate routes exist.

You don't need a route on the CSS but rather on the &quot;public/outside&quot; of the CSS. &nbsp;Where are you trying to ping from? &nbsp;The Internet, internal? &nbsp;What is on the public side of the CSS, Firewall?

My web servers are seperated from the rest of the Data Center (DC) by the CSS, and they are on their own lan. I have the need to be able to ping from the servers in the DC to the web servers, but to do so, it has to go through the CSS. :( Hence my need to be able to either create a rule for the ping or put a route into it. <br />

Okay, so I imagine your CSS has a default route to a router/Firewall that separates the DC from the web servers? &nbsp;The CSS already has a route to the web servers as it can connect to the web servers but it may need a route to the DC servers if the default doesn't do the job. &nbsp;The router that separates the DC from the web servers/CSS need a route to the web servers or if a route exists, ICMP needs to be allowed if there is a Firewall. &nbsp;Can you lay out what network devices are in the path between 10.1.11.11 and 10.1.6.2?

So for the source of the ping, is the Firewall its default gateway? or is there a core router that has an interface in the 10.1.5.x or 10.1.11.x subnet that is the sources default gateway?

The source of the ping is the google Mini. <br />
The router has interfaces on the 10.1.5.x and 10.1.11.x subnets, but for the Google mini to get to the 1.1.6.x subnet, it must pass through the CSS.

The problem that I have is that I need it to pass a ping through to one of the servers. I don't care if the ping is load balanced or has to go to a specific server. I simply need it to go through. A switch is a device that filters and forwards packets of data between LAN segments. Switches operate at the data link layer or the network layer of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Reference Model and therefore support any packet protocol. LANs that use switches to join segments are called switched LANs or, in the case of Ethernet networks, switched Ethernet LANs. A hub is a connection point for devices in a network.
