mac book and Linksys

oHHHHHHHHHH my Gooooooooooooooood this is very very frustrating.
I just came back from Bestbuy with a brand new Macbook and I'm trying to join it to my wireless which there is no way that I can do that , keep in mind that I have a desktop computer runing Vista and a Macbook Pro which these two are working just fine , the configuration that I have is as follow

LINKSYS  WRT54GS V7 Firmware Version: v7.50.5

I have turned off all the security futures that I could think of and I can not get this new macbook wireless to work , it just don't like the router, when I connect it to other routers around my house it work just fine what do think it is?

thank you very much

You might not have turned MAC-Address Filtering off on the router (one of the security features you might not have thought about).

yes i have but I would like to use that future, I have been using it for my other 3 laptops with no problem including the macbook pro!!!!!!

I wouldn't use that. Use WPA-PSK, that is the only reliable security feature for wireless, MAC Addresses can easily be spoofed.

Make sure your new system's wireless NIC supports those modes that you have set on your router.

If you are using MAC address filtering, are you sure that the MAC address you put in for the new Mac was the MAC address of the wireless interface and not the MAC address of the ethernet interface? They are different.

I understand that , what I did to found the mac address is to go to system preferences>Network>Airport>Advanced>Airport ID correct ?

That's right.

What happens if you turn off MAC address filitering? Can you then connect?

I think that I tried that but I'm not sure,  my SSID comes with "." could that be a problem?
strung

Could be. Try a different SSID with only numbers and letters - no punctuation or spaces.
