I've got myself into an awful pickle!
I noticed that a site I had developed using ShopFactory was not displaying properly and after spending a day trying to sort it out and just making it worse, I discovered that it was not the program/website but my computer which was not displaying the javascript navigation. Ordinary javascript on other sites work fine but the javascript used in the shopfactory sites doesn't display at all.
So I then started to dig around to find what could be wrong with my PC. I turned every concievable setting on and off in IE. I turned off the firewall. I updated to WinXP SP3. I did a complete virus scan. Somewhere along the way I found War1's instructions
https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/22935465/Javascript-and-Browsers.html and I started following them.
Nothing worked, so I then took the link to
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679 and started following those instructions. I got as far as Run regsvr32 Mshtml.dll and I got an error message "Mshtml was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered."
So I decided to pack up and go home. This morning I went back into IE made these worse by resetting everything back to the defaults. Now I can't get the expert exchange site up - after about 10 mins the page which loads looks like it has not stylesheet - I can see a list of unordered links running down the left side of the screen. So I've had to fire up an old PC just to ask my question!
I have restored my computer back to pre-SP3 but that hasn't helped.
Everything shows up fine in Firefox (don't ask me why I'm not using Firefox to post this question - my head aches!!!)
Can you set me straight?
