Virtual Machine does not start up automatically after boot VMWare Hypervisor (startup server)

I just installed my VMWare ESX server 3i, 3.5.0 build 94430 in my HP Proliant ML350G5 server. The VMWare Hypervisor is booted from my internal usb port.I converted my Windows 2003 x64 server to a virtual machine.

In the VMWare intrastructure client, version 2.5.0 build 84767, on the configuration page, option under software, Virtual Machine startup / shutdown, I have put this VM in the automatic startup section. However, when I turn on my server, the hypervisor loads and the VM is NOT booted. I have to do this manually every time.

See also the attached image of my settings.

Can anyone please help me out so that the VM is started automatically?

I am very new to VMWare.

Thank you in advance,

Have you tried to set a higher delay for testing purposes, e.g. 180 seconds?

No I will try this and get back to you.

Set the delay to 300 seconds, still does not startup!

I tend to think that this is a bug in ESX3i, see here:;jsessionid=4622D3587E096EBD085F88D6579F3835?tstart=0

Some people have the same problem and there are no resolutions (at least I haven't found one by now) in the VMware community forums.
I also did not find a solution there, was kind of hoping there is a workaround, maybe with scripting or something like that....

After troubleshooting with HP it looks like the license is the problem. However, since yesterday VMware offers ESX server free.

This version works without problems!

Thanks agriesser for your help.
